{"id":101008,"date":"2021-12-13T13:00:21","date_gmt":"2021-12-13T13:00:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ecdhs.gov.za\/?p=101008"},"modified":"2021-12-13T13:01:36","modified_gmt":"2021-12-13T13:01:36","slug":"christmas-comes-early-for-58-destitute-families-in-cala","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ecdhs.gov.za\/index.php\/2021\/12\/13\/christmas-comes-early-for-58-destitute-families-in-cala\/13\/00\/","title":{"rendered":"Christmas comes early for 58 destitute families in Cala"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a>MEDIA ADVISORY<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>TO: ALL MEDIA<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>DATE: 13 DECEMBER 2021<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Christmas comes early for 58 destitute families in Cala<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>East London&#8212;&#8212;- <\/strong>Eastern Cape Human SettlementsMEC, Nonceba Kontsiwe, will spread Christmas cheer to 58 destitute families including a visually impaired father of five, when she hands over houses to the impoverished families in Cala on 15 December 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The beneficiaries have benefitted from the Department\u2019s rural project named Cala 1409 (988 units) which is spread over 8 villages in Cala under Sakhisizwe Local Municipality, at a budget of R150 million. The project has 658 houses completed thus far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mlulami Malgas who is a 57-year-old father of five is one of the beneficiaries set to receive his house in time for Christmas. Malgas has been living with his children in a single mud flat, dependent on government social grant for his children and disability. His living conditions were not conducive for his condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Department prioritises the destitute beneficiaries by providing them with decent quality houses to better their lives.
