In efforts to restore the dignity of the most vulnerable, the low-income earners and unemployed by providing them with decent quality houses, MEC for Human Settlements, Siphokazi Lusithi, joined by Executive Mayor for Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality (BCMM), Cllr Princess Faku, will officially handover 139 houses in Breidbach, on 15 February 2024.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The 139 beneficiaries have benefitted from the Breidbach 531 Housing Project, just 5km from King Williams Town. This Human Settlements development entails the construction of 531 housing units for the benefit of the destitute families of BCMM. Working with the Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality, the project was developed from a plain land parcel which required planning and bulk services, including roads, water, sewer, and electricity connections.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>The project is integrated in an existing community that has amenities including a clinic, school and community centre in the area.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The beneficiaries have been living under poor conditions in mud structures and some in shacks. One of the beneficiaries set to receive a house is 74-year-old Maureen Pharo<\/span>\u00a0who currently lives with her granddaughter while awaiting for her house.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
