MEC PIETERS TO HANDOVER HOUSES BUILT BY EMERGING CONTRACTORS IN NDLAMBE<\/strong><\/p>\n

Port Alfred ——– <\/strong>In increasing empowerment opportunities and support to emerging contractors in the Ndlambe Local Municipality, MEC Nonkqubela Pieters will officially handover 7 houses built by local contractors on Tuesday 28 January 2019. Local contractors were appointed by the municipality for two housing development projects; 5 SMMEs for the Bushmans River Mouth 29 and 7 SMMEs for the Nemato 120 (Phase1).<\/p>\n

The Department is prioritizing the creation of opportunities for SMMEs through procurement and development opportunities towards sustainable business enterprise. They have received training from the National Home Builders Registration Council (NHBRC) on processes and financial management. In Bushmans River Mouth, they have already completed 10 units for the benefit of the destitute and vulnerable beneficiaries. The Department is prioritizing the elderly, disabled, child headed families and military veterans, by providing them with decent homes. One of the beneficiaries to receive a new home on the day is 80-year-old Zanyiwe Manyati from Bushmans River Mouth.<\/p>\n

In Nemato, Port Alfred, the SMMEs have successfully completed 2 units, including a house with special features that meet the approved norms and standards for disabled beneficiaries. This house will be handed over to a 50-year-old Siziwe Veto. An 80-year-old Noma Tokota will also receive her new home from MEC Pieters, providing quality shelter for her and her family. She was previously staying with relatives.<\/p>\n
