MEC KONTSIWE HANDS OVER A HOUSE TO 95 YEAR OLD GRANNY AND A DESTITUTE TEENAGER HEADING A HOUSEHOLD IN STUTTERHEIM

Eastern Cape Human Settlements MEC, Nonceba Kontsiwe will be handing over houses to two destitute families which include a 95-year-old Nokwayiyo Deyizana and Elethu Mvuyo who is from a child headed household, in Stutterrheim under Amahlathi Local Municipality on 14 May 2021.

Both these beneficiaries were residing in collapsing mud structures hence they were prioritized in the department’s housing projects in Cenyu Village currently under construction. This will see 450 houses built in Cenyu Village while 692 houses will be built and completed in Cenyulands this financial year.

Both these projects have a cumulative budget of 168 million rands – with Cenyulands 692 set at a budget of 104 million rands and Cenyu Village with a budget set at 64 million rands. Both projects will be completed this financial year.

The department has 46 running projects in Amathole this financial year to the tune of the 120 million rands.
