More destitute Bizana families to benefit from rural housing project
East London——- Deputy Minister of Human Settlements, Pam Tshwete, together with the Eastern Cape MEC for Human Settlements, Nonceba Kontsiwe, will officially handover new homes to destitute families at Ludeke in Bizana under Winnie Madikizela Local Municipality on 09 June 2022.
In 2015 the Eastern Provincial Department of Human Settlements launched a rural housing project to deliver 1000 housing units which have since been increased to 1008 at a cost of R134 million. The addition of 8 houses is informed by the discovery of destitute households, mainly elderly who are in desperate need of a shelter.
The Department prioritises the destitute and vulnerable groups including the elderly, disabled, child-headed housesholds and military veterans, by providing them with decent quality homes.
