SARAH BAARTMAN HOUSING BENEFICIARIES SET TO RECEIVE TITLE DEEDS

Homeownership will become a reality for 159 housing beneficiaries in the Dr Beyers Naude Local Municipality, under Sarah Baartman District Municipality. Eastern Cape Human Settlements MEC, Siphokazi Lusithi, is expected to handover title deeds to rightful beneficiaries on Tuesday, 21 February 2023. The handover forms part of MEC Lusithi’s rollout plan to eradicate title deeds backlog in the province to ensure homeownership.

The Department is fast-tracking the release of title deeds as an important instrument of economic empowerment. A verification process was conducted by the Department together with the Dr Beyers Naude Local Municipality to ensure the rightful beneficiaries receive their title deeds.

There are 159 recipients of title deeds from Kroonvale and Mandela Park who benefitted from Kroonvale 455 and Mandela Park 188 housing projects.  The projects provided integrated, sustainable human settlements for those beneficiaries who were in need of decent quality homes.

On the day, MEC Lusithi together with the Dr Beyers Naude Mayor, Cllr Willem Safers will visit some of the elderly beneficiaries in their homes to handover their title deeds. This will be followed by a community engagement and handing over ceremony at the Alex Laing Hall.

Members of the media are invited to attend the handover to be held as follows;
