Eastern Cape Human Settlements MEC, Siphokazi Lusithi, will lead the handover of 500 title deeds to residents of Who Can Tell Village outside Komani, in the Chris Hani District Municipality, on Friday, 15 May 2026.
The official handover marks the transfer of full ownership to beneficiaries. It forms part of the Title Deeds Restoration Project, which seeks to address the existing backlog and bring government housing interventions to their intended conclusion through the issuance of title deeds.
This initiative supports access to adequate housing and promotes full homeownership, thereby strengthening security of tenure. The Department, working in partnership with the local municipality, has undertaken a verification process to ensure that title deeds are allocated to the rightful beneficiaries.
Progress has been steady, with the Department reaffirming its commitment to the principle of “One title deed, one beneficiary” following the approval of beneficiaries.
